It's that time of year again. Christmas is over and we are all looking for inspirations for crafts for the new year. This site works because of YOU, it's you that puts the content in it and comments on other peoples posts encouraging them to continue to post.
So if anyone has ideas for a new challenge, or a craft a long or wants to start a swap please do so. Challenges and swaps go in there respective groups and craft a longs go in the forum group. There is no limit to how many swaps and challenges can be started at the same time, just factor how many others are going on at the time when you decide on your completion date, there is no need for prizes if you don't want to.
the blog. hmm I think it's pretty well established now that I'm rubbish at keeping up with the blog. However we do need the blog because google tracks blogs better than most the other pages on the website and blogs are more easily organised into sections, and there more easily searchable. New users are more likely to find us if we keep up the blog, new users are more likely to want to stay if we have content that is useful to them.
What I would really like with the blog is to put out a blog entry once a week, that might not be manageable right now but it is the goal. In order to do that though I need help. Any member of the site can write a blog entry, all you have to do is write and email it to me. I would like to post them on a set day of the week so that we get used to looking out for the new blog entry every Monday, or whatever day it's posted. Therefore if multiple people sent me blog entries in the same week I would post them in the order received over the coming weeks. I'm happy to edit, proof read etc if you are worried about your writing.
What can you write a blog about? Well first off let's keep it about crafts, it's a wide enough subject that it covers a lot of different things.
A craft that you like to do, what tools you need, what you can make with it.
A new craft that you are trying.
A tutorial
A guide to buying equipment for crafting, for instance buying a sewing machine
An ongoing blog over a year showing the changes to your project. Like Linda's garden blog,
A pattern, such as a crochet pattern or sewing pattern as long as it's either your own, or you have permission to post it.
Links to pages offering free patterns of a topic. So maybe crocheted flowers, a picture of each one and a link to their pattern underneath that people can go look at if they want.
How crafting has helped you
Something about the crafting community.
Information and links about the different types of crafting sites out there
Information and links to places crafters can sell their work
You could even do a video blog
An unboxing blog of new craft stuff.
A show and tell about different craft items, like sparkly pens or yarns or paper types
basically it's all about sharing your knowledge.
Will add a new sew along challenge next week
who will join ?
