When out for a drive yesterday we passed the peat bogs ,they were covered in this beautiful flower
It’s known here as bog cotton and many years ago housewives used to pick it and stuff mattresses and pillows with it
I just had to pick some but now realise how it feels to walk on a bog especially with my legs , II was like walking on uneven sponge . I didn’t go far from the edge
No idea if it dries well sarah , I couldn’t display them in a vase as kittens would destroy them
The kittens are a year old next month
It looks lovely does it dry to a nice dried flower by any chance, it looks like it would be very useful
Heard of it, never ever noticed it.
Now I know what to look for!
It does look so soft.
It’s so not like.dandelions, it’s softer and doesn’t come off in the wind ,
I keep stroking it
So interesting Liz. I’ve never heard of it so yes I Googled it too. It looks lovely and soft. x
This is so interesting I've had to google it. We don't have peat bogs near us so I had never heard of bog cotton. The flowers look lovely and very tactile.
How interesting is that I have never heard of bog cotton. It’s a pity you couldn’t pick some more and do something with it. Is it the seed like you get in dandelion clocks that blow every where.?
